Reading for Pleasure has been a class that has helped me expand my time with reading. I have always had a love for reading fictional books like the book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but in this class, I was able to read books like The rules of Survival. This book was nice with a surprising ending. This book has broadened my vocabulary. It also has let me see the good and the bad side of life, maybe more bad than good! this class has given me a good aspect of reading. I know for a fact that i probably wouldn't have read books like these if I didn't take this class. I feel as though I took a lot from this experience and that it will help me in my future.
I like everything about this class except the blogs. I think that we should have just talked about it in class as a group so that it would be more exciting. I think the blogs were not the best way to go. Maybe if we would have discussed the books as a group, people would have enjoyed this class more. But other than that, this was a nice experience.

the rules of survival (part 3)
The kids become really obsessed with Murdoch. Matt was trying to have Murdoch fill in the place as his father, but think they both knew that it could never be. Soon enough, Murdoch broke up with there mother after Labor day. The plans for them to go out and have a big cookout were over.
The week after the break up, Nikki decided to go to Murdoch's house. In a way, the kids wanted to go, but at the same time they didn't. So when they got there Nikki took them in the house and left them there.she decided that she wanted to go to the club. Nikki was gone for several weeks without calling our any type of communication. At first the kids didn't mind, but now its starting to bother not only them ,but Murdoch. Matt is still looking for the fatherly figure in Murdoch and becomes upset when he realizes he can't. The kids still have a great time but they wonder where their mom is.

the rules of survival (prt. 2)
Matt's sister, Callie, gives him something special for his birthday. She gives him Murdoch's address and phone number. Well Matt is so happy and surprised that Callie was able to get the information for him. So they planned to go meet Murdoch and try to be his friend. But something went terribly wrong. There crazy mother Nikki found the piece of paper with Murdoch's information on it. Matt was thinking that she would ruin their plan to be friends with Murdoch. Nikki assumes that the kids were trying to set her up on a date with the guy on the paper. So she keeps the paper and calls him. Come to find out, Nikki actually starts dating Murdoch and it works out good for everyone.
So Murdoch starts going out on group dates with them over his house. They would watch movies and eat popcorn while laughing and having a good time. Nikki even stooped acting as violent and wild as she usually is. They know that those it isnt going to last forever, so they try to enjoy it while they can. Nikki still had her little outburst when she would do something crazy but Murdoch would just ignore it.
One day they all went to the beach where the big rocks were and had a nice picnic. Everything was going fine. Callie was playing with Emmy and Murdoch and Matt were having a nice conversation. Matt was finally losing up to Murdoch and really started to trust him. But then, Nikki made this big outburst and said "this is boring, lets have some real fun!" So she yanks Emmy by the hand and starts to run while dragging Emmy across the unstable rocks. she begins to taunt them by saying "catch me! catch me" Callie and Matt Knew what was going on. They saw the frightened look on Murdoch's face and knew it was over. Murdoch begins to yell, "Nikki, this isn't funny! Come back for someone gets hurt!" But she continues to run on while dragging Emmy. That's when Callie and Matt Begin to run after them so that they can get Emmy back to safety. so they're all running across the rocks when Callie sips and falls. Matt tries to help her and gets a nasty scratch on his leg. So its up to Murdoch to get Emmy back safe and secure. Nikki just thinks this is just a game and soon reaches a cliff. Below it were big rocks and the ocean smashing against them. So then, Nikki holds Emmy up by her leg over the cliff and begins to laugh. Then Murdoch really begins to yell at her. But thankfully he grabbed Emmy and took her back. Nikki was saying to them, "it was just a joke. Ya ll don't know how to have fun.
After that ssituation, Murdoch still dated Nikki, just so he can protect the kids.

the rules of survival
This book is about a 17 year old boy named Mathew who is telling his little sister about their life when they were younger. They are going through emotional struggles so Matt begins to tell life stories. Their mom is very abusive and at times childish. Matt also has a sister named Callie that also that also gets abused by their mother. Matt talks about how his mother one day cut his arm for stealing a cookie when it was time to go to bed. But at the same time she was laughing while she was cutting him. The kids hope for a miracle, but soon enough, they.
One day, the kids are hot and they want something to cool them down. So, while the baby is sleeping Callie and Matt sneak out the house to get some popsicles. When they get there they begin to pick out what popsicles they want, when suddenly they realize they dont have enough money. They hear a man yelling at his son for taking some candy. But then they see a man trying to stop the conflict. He tells the father if he wants to someone hit me and not the kid. The father begins to back off the kid. Then the other man begins to talk to the boy and tells him that he doesn't deserve to get beat up no matter what. Before the boy and his father leave the boy pays for the candy and gives it to the man. His name was Murdoch. Then Murdoch at Matt with a grin and tossed the candy to Matt. keysha's drama (prt.3)
Keysha is now living with her father and is about to meet the rest of her family. She goes into the neighborhood where her father lives and is surprised at how beautiful it is. When she arrives at the she is astonished at how big his house is but she tries her best to try to hold back all of what she is feeling. When she enters the house she is greeted by Grandma Katie. Then Jordan shows her up to her new room and she loved it. She thought to herself, "is this a fairytale". She just couldn't believe what she was seeing. As she was getting settled, Mike, her brother, entered her room in a very rude way. He approached her as if he was a "gangster", but Keysha wasn't going for that. it got so bad that Keysha had to threaten him out of her room. She had just got there and everything already started bad. to make matters worse, Keysha's step mom, Barbra, came in and started to be disrespectful. Keysha was not enjoying her time there so far and was already planning to run away. But somehow, Grandma Katie calmed her down and convinced her that Mike and Barbra didn't mean any harm.
Keysha was now enrolled in a new school and had all of the supplies she needed to start her first day. She went in the school confident and ready, but like every new student, people didn't approach her as friendly as they should have. There was one girl who was sitting right beside her in her first class. She wore all back with the black hair, nails and lipstick. Keysha tried to stay away from her as much as she could, but the girl ended up speaking to her anyway. Her name was Liz. she was very friendly to Keysha and showed her things about the school, but in her way. Liz wasn't the most likeable person in the school and everywhere she turned someone was saying something to her. Well she didn't care about anything those kids were saying and Keysha admired that about her.
So when they got to the cafeteria, Liz introduced Keysha to all of her friends. they dressed just like Liz did and acted like her to. Keysha felt close to Liz because of everything that Liz was sharing with her. Keysha finally felt as though she had a good in the school.
The next week, Keysha was feeling stressed out about her life. She was on the edge and wasn't in the position to take no mess. Jordan came and said something to Keysha that got her really upset, so she hit him in the head with the broom. She got in big trouble for that and was put on punishment.
The following week there was a big party that everyone was going to attend. Liz had invited Keysha to go. Keysha told Liz about the situation that she was in and how she couldn't go to the party. But somehow, Liz persuaded her to go to the party. So the following night, Keysha snook out to the party. When they arrived there, the party was jumping! there was loud music, dancing people and plenty refreshments. Keysha got thirsty so Liz went to go get her a drink.

keysha's drama (part 2)
Keysha has finally met her biological father,Jordan. He is the exact opposite of her mother. He has a good paying job working with one of the most popular radio stations in the area. He also has a wife named Barbra and a son named Mike. At the time, Jordan's mother, Grandma Katie, was coming over for a visit.
Keysha goes and visits her mom in jail. her mom is also pregnant. when she arrives, she sees her mom with two jacked up cornrolls in her hair. her mom is still talking down on Keysha. she is telling her that Keyshas needs to harry up and get a job so when she gets out of jail, she can go and live with her. Keysha becomes real descouraged after that talk with her mother and never wants to speak to her again after that.
When Keysha's father and family come to visit her, she becomes a nervous wreck. She started to think about how she looked and what she was wearing and also thinking, "What if he didn't like me?" Grandma Katie was the first to greet her. Keysha feels uncomfortable and doesn't respond back. Then her dad comes up to her and introduces himself.she feels very uncomfortable and starts to be disrespectful. She wants to welcome him with poen arms but at the same time she is pushing him away. Her emotions are all messed up. Grandma Katie calms Keysha down and reassures her that they were going to get her out of the group home. but keysha starts to have second thoughts when she over hears a conversation in her with her father and her social worker, Maggie. keysha's drama
Keysha's Drama is a wonderful book filled with all kinds of drama. It keeps me wide awake every time I turn the page. Especially in the beginning when she talks about how she rips a chunk of Ronnie's hair out because of her broken heart. Her mom is a young enough to be her sister and doesn't act her age. Keysha can never depend on her and she is always tearing her down emotionally. Keysha's friend Toya has her priorities set in all the wrong places with a baby named Junior. Her baby's daddy is a broke down thug that snoops around with another girl that gets Toya in a fierce fight. Personally, I think the girl got the best of Toya because she came home with scratches all on her body and her cloths and her hair tore up. Keysha is having problems and starts stressing out about school because she isn't prepared. Her mom doesn't have the money for her but she has the money to go out to the club. To make matters even worse she brings home a strange man named Simon back from the club. He assumes that he knows Keysha's father which gets Keysha upset.(He might know her father but I don't know that because I'm only on chapter 8.) So after that, she didn't see her mother for 3 days, but that's another story. Toya suggests that they go out "boosting". Keysha has second thoughts about this because Toya thinks about bringing Junior in it. but they end up doing it any way. So they go out to Carson Pirie Scott mall and everything is going fine. But then Toya gets caught with the baby and is arrested. Keysha is left in the middle and doesn't know what to do. Well she follows her gut and leaves Toya hangen. Toya is left scared and doesn't know what to do bacause there is an eviction notice on her and door and her mom is no where to be found. Then after a day at school she saw Toya and they almost got in a fight! But Toya did give Keysha a nasty cut! Toya tells Keysha tha she saw her mom in jail, thats why she hasn't been there. So then a lady from the government takes Keysha away! now she comes close to finding her father...........
